DOUGLAS, Ariz. (AP) — Evacuations have been lifted at a southeastern Arizona industrial area after a car crash caused a large propane tank to leak.

Cochise County Sheriff's officials say the Douglas police and fire departments responded to the incident late Tuesday morning after a vehicle crashed into an 18,000 gallon propane tank at a gas-distribution business.

Police say there was no fire or explosion and the propane tank wasn't full when it was struck.

Firefighters allowed some of the gas in the tank to dissipate before they clamped off the damaged pipe.

Nearly 20 businesses in a commercial and industrial area within a half-mile radius of the leak were evacuated for several hours as a precaution.

Authorities lifted the evacuation orders before 5 p.m.

Douglas is 100 miles (161 kilometers) southeast of Tucson.
