PEORIA, Ariz. (AP) _ George Arias hit a two-run double with two outs in the eighth inning Sunday, lifting the San Diego Padres to a 5-4 victory over the Seattle Mariners.

The Padres scored three runs in the eighth inning and improved to 3-0 this spring.

Arias, acquired in a trade that sent Rickey Henderson to the Anaheim Angels in August, is competing for a reserve infielder spot. Arias is 3-for-6 so far and has been getting extra playing time with starting third baseman Ken Caminiti rehabilitating from an off-season knee surgery.

The Mariners went ahead 2-0 in the second inning after loading the bases against Sterling Hitchcock. Dan Wilson's soft single scored both runs.

Padres left-hander Mark Langston will miss his start Monday against the Colorado Rockies after injuring his left rotator cuff during batting practice last week. Padres manager Bruce Bochy said he expects Langston to be ready to pitch Thursday against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
