LAWRENCE, N.J. (AP) — A man who allegedly walked into a restaurant last year and immediately shot a patron in the back of the head has been indicted on murder charges.
Mercer County prosecutors say Noel Powell III also faces two weapons counts in the indictment handed up this week. It was made public Friday.
Authorities say the 27-year-old Lawrence man shot 23-year-old Devin Smith in the back of the head while Smith was sitting at the restaurant's bar on Nov. 14. Smith was pronounced dead at the scene.
A motive for the shooting has not been disclosed. No other injuries were reported.
Powell has maintained his innocence. He remains jailed pending his trial.
