WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (AP) _ Johnny Dawkins fired in 28 points and Mark Alarie added 17 as No. 6 Duke overpowered William & Mary 84-61 in college basketball Tuesday night.
The Blue Devils raced to a 46-30 halftime lead behind 76.9 percent shooting from the floor and coasted home with their fourth victory against no defeats.
Duke made 37 of 54 field goal tries, with Dawkins hitting 14 of 18 field goal attempts and Alarie 7 of 9.
William & Mary, 0-2, got 17 points from Greg Burzell, 11 from Scott Trimble and 10 from Tim Trout. The Indians shot 43.6 percent from the floor.
Tim Trout pulled down eight rebounds as William & Mary controlled the boards 26-20. Danny Ferry led the Duke rebounders with seven.
