Feb. 21, 2018
AUCKLAND, New Zealand (AP) — New Zealand won the toss and elected to bat on Wednesday in the Twenty20 tri-series final against Australia at Eden Park.
Both teams named unchanged lineups for the match. Australia retained the team that achieved a world-record run chase of 244 to beat New Zealand by five wickets when the teams last met at Eden Park five days ago. That win kept Australia unbeaten in its four matches in the series.
New Zealand kept the team that lost by two runs to England in Hamilton on Sunday, but still managed to qualify for the series final on run rate. England and New Zealand both finished the round-robin section of the tournament with one win.
New Zealand scored 243-6 when it last met Australia on Eden Park but Australia demonstrated its batting depth by surpassing that total, taking advantage of the stadium's notorious short boundaries.
