SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) _ San Jose Earthquakes defender Troy Dayak will be out six-to-eight weeks following hernia surgery and an operation on his left knee.

Dayak, who will undergo both procedures on Thursday, missed the 1999 and 2000 seasons following a neck injury. He was the MLS comeback player of the year and an All-Star in 2001.

He missed 13 games last season because of injuries.
