HIGH POINT, N.C. (AP) — Andre Fox hit six 3-pointers and finished with 27 points — both career highs — and Jahaad Proctor scored 23 with four assists and two blocks to help High Point beat UNC Asheville 84-74 on Wednesday night to snap a three-game skid against the Bulldogs.
Fox and Proctor combined to make 17 of 33 from the field, including all of High Point's nine 3-pointers. The Panthers (6-7, 1-1 Big South) shot 55.2 percent (16 of 29) in the second half.
Fox hit a 3-pointer to spark, and made a jumper to cap, a 9-0 spurt that made it 17-9 and High Point led the rest of the way. The Bulldogs trimmed their deficit to 36-33 when Raekwon Miller hit a 3 just before halftime, but they would get no closer. Fox hit back-to-back 3-pointers as High Point scored 12 of the first 17 second-half points and five different Panthers scored during a 10-2 run that gave them a 58-45 with 10 minutes remaining. UNC Asheville trailed by double figures the rest of the way.
MaCio Teague scored 14 of his 21 points in the second half, Miller finished with 18 points and Ahmad Thomas scored 12 for the Bulldogs (8-7, 1-1).
