ST. LOUIS (AP) _ Mark McGwire was ejected for arguing a called third strike in the third inning of the St. Louis Cardinals' game against the Chicago White Sox Sunday.

Home plate umpire Mike Everitt booted McGwire after calling him out on a 3-2 count against David Wells for the first out of the third. McGwire turned to argue and said several words before Everitt ejected him.

Manager Tony La Russa argued the decision briefly.

McGwire was 1-for-2 with an RBI single in the first and is batting .232 with five homers and 10 RBIs.
