BALTIMORE (AP) _ The Baltimore Orioles exercised their 2002 contract options on utility man Jeff Conine and reliever Buddy Groom on Wednesday

Conine was selected the team MVP last season, his third with the Orioles, after batting .311 with 14 home runs and a team-leading 97 RBIs. He finished 10th in the American League in batting and stole a career-high 12 bases.

Groom led the Orioles with 70 relief appearances in 2001, his second year with the team. He went 1-4 with a 3.55 ERA and a career-high 11 saves.
