A Back to School Block Party will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church of Warrenville, 1012 Aiken Blvd., Warrenville. The event will feature bounce houses, snow cones, games and dinner. The event is free and open to the public.

SATURDAY

Fit 4 School will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Aiken County Family Y, 621 Trolley Line Road, Graniteville. The event will feature a school supply giveaway, free hearing, eye and health screenings, hair cuts, a bounce house and a DJ.

A Back to School Kid’s FunDay will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Kedron Baptist Church, 233 Kedron Church Road. Children in first through sixth grades will be able to enjoy a treasure hunt, waterslide, bounce house, musical chairs and more. Hamburgers and hot dogs will be served.

Tonya A. Guy will sign copies of her book, “Edgefield, SC: District of Devils, Rebecca Cotton,” from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Carolina Moon Distillery, 116 Courthouse Square, Edgefield.

A special program titled A Day With Aunt Julia will be held from 9:30 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Redcliffe Plantation State Historic Site, 181 Redcliffe Road, Beech Island. The program is in honor of the estate’s third owner, Aunt Julia, and will feature old-fashioned games and crafts, kid-friendly tours of the mansion and slave cabin, and an ice cream social at 11:30. The tour is recommended for families with kids 12 and younger. Admission is $5 for children, free for adults and ages 2 and younger. Storks & Corks, an evening of observing threatened wood storks, will be held Saturday at the Silver Bluff Audubon Center & Sanctuary, 4542 Silver Bluff Road, Jackson. Tickets are $65 per person, and include wood stork observation, a sampling of wines and a buffet dinner. A silent auction also will be held. The Aiken Horsepower Association will hold a cruise-in from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot of Home Depot, 1786 Whiskey Road.

The Midlands Fatherhood Coalition will hold its inaugural 3K Fatherhood Walk on Saturday at the H. Odell Weeks Activities Center, 1700 Whiskey Road. Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. and the walk begins at 9 a.m. The event will be held rain or shine. Registration is free. The first 10 fathers to register will receive a gift bag with a T-shirt. The event is for the whole family and will feature food trucks, fun zone, school supply giveaway and more. The Martha Schofield High School Class of 1968 50th reunion celebration committee will meet at 4 p.m. Saturday at American Legion Post 212, 602 Hampton Ave. The 50th reunion will be held Aug. 31 through Sept. 2, and will feature a tour of the Schofield campus at 5 p.m. Friday, a meet and greet at the American Legion from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday, a banquet at Houndslake Country Club from 7 p.m. to midnight on Saturday and a Sunday worship service at Runs Baptist Church at 8 a.m. The cost for class members and their spouses is $75 per person. STAR puppy classes will be offered at 11:15 a.m. beginning Wednesday, Aug. 8, at the H. Odell Weeks Activities Center, 1700 Whiskey Road. The class will meet on Wednesdays for six weeks. Puppies will learn commands and those who qualify will be eligible for the AKC STAR award at the end of the course. Puppies must be between 10 to 20 weeks old and have two sets of shots. Basic Dog Training classes will be held at 10 a.m. beginning Wednesday, Aug. 8, at the H. Odell Weeks Activities Center, 1700 Whiskey Road. The class will meet on Wednesdays for six weeks. Dogs will learn basic commands including come, sit, down, stay, wait, stand, etc., and topics will include basic dog care and what to expect from training. Dogs must be 5 months and older, have a current rabies vaccination and be registered with the city if the owner lives within the city limits.
