Chili cook-off to benefit Sharpsburg Community Library
Sharpsburg Community Library will host a chili cook-off fundraiser Nov. 2 that will see chefs and taste-testers using the space to strengthen community connections, leaders said.
Modern libraries have transformed from book barns to community hubs where people can meet, learn and grow, and the Sharpsburg site is expanding its programs to reflect that, Director Sara Mariacher said.
“Sharing a table with friends and neighbors is another fantastic way to bring people together and build our community,” she said.
The cook-off will have two time slots -- 5 and 6 p.m. -- with 10 pots of chili competing for first place.
In each time slot, 25 participants will sample one cup of chili from each competitor.
Bread and salad will be donated by Gran Canal Cafe along Main Street. Cost is $5 per person, with all proceeds benefiting library operations.
“We hope that this fundraiser will not only raise money for the library but provide an enjoyable time that will enable people in our community to build new connections,” Mariacher said.
Registration is available online with a credit card at coopersiegelcommunitylibrary.org or at the library, 1212 Main St., with cash or check.
