Harry Connick Jr. Arrested With Gun at Airport
NEW YORK (AP) _ Singer Harry Connick Jr. was arrested at Kennedy International Airport on Sunday after a gun was found in his carry-on bag as he was about to board a plane, police said.
The 9mm weapon, which wasn’t loaded, was seized by a guard at a security checkpoint, said Sgt. Stephen Prospero, a Port Authority police spokesman.
Connick, 24, was charged with fourth-degree possession of a weapon, a misdemeanor. He was taken to a police station in the city’s borough of Queens for processing, Prospero said.
Connick was about to board a TWA flight for New Orleans when he was stopped, Prospero said.
Police were told the gun was a gift, but Prospero said he didn’t know who had given it to the singer.
