NEW YORK (AP) — Fire officials say a fire broke out in a New York City building and left more than a dozen people injured.

The Fire Department of New York says it appears the blaze started in a Chinese restaurant on the first floor of a Manhattan building Tuesday afternoon.

Fourteen firefighters were injured, some seriously, by heat exhaustion and debris while responding to the fire. One civilian suffered a minor injury.

Authorities say the fire was under control by 8 p.m.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
