TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) _ Conswella Sparrow scored 17 points and freshman Erin McGinnis made two free throws with 22 seconds remaining as No. 23 Auburn beat Arizona State 56-52 Sunday night to win the Wells Fargo Classic.

Tiffany Krantz added 12 points for the Tigers (8-1).

Rachel Holt and Rechelle Lang each scored 10 points for the Sun Devils (3-5).

Krantz made two free throws with 3:51 left to give Auburn a 52-43 lead, but Lang made a 3-pointer and Holt converted a three-point play to make it 52-49 with 1:22 left.

However, McGinnis grabbed a rebound with 30 seconds to play, was fouled and made both shots for a 55-49 lead that Arizona State couldn’t overcome.

Auburn led 26-25 at halftime, but opened the second half with a 6-0 surge on layups by Kris Bernath, Tasha Hamilton and Sparrow.

Sparrow had two more baskets in another 6-0 spurt that opened the Tigers’ biggest lead of the game, 50-41, with 4:37 to play.
