World Championship ticket awarded
A ticket was given to the Steak Cookoff Association World Championship on Saturday night in Crosby.
The Crosby Fair and Rodeo held its second annual “Rock’n C Steak Cook-off” on the Fairgrounds in Crosby, and as the winner of an official Steak Cookoff Association event, John Butler was awarded the prized ticket.
The World Championship will take place in Fort Worth on Oct. 5.
The event was a fundraiser for scholarships for Crosby ISD students. Money was raised through admission, entry fees, and a live and silent auction.
Prize money was given to the top entries in a couple different categories-kids, appetizer, michelada, and steak. Butler won $1000 for finishing first in the steak category.
There were 29 entries in the steak category, with some coming from as far as Louisiana and several from the Dallas-Fort Worth Area.
Crosby Fair & Rodeo board member Rick Loggins said there weren’t as many entries as there were last year, but he hopes the event starts gaining more publicity.
There was a dance at the fairground following the awards given out.
The cook-off is one of the kick-off events for the Crosby Rodeo, which will take place in early June.
