September 20, 2018

Freshman Sydney Lewellin provided 26 assists, 15 digs, four aces and 2.5 blocks as Lake Mills swept host Luther Prep, 25-20, 25-22, 25-22, in Tuesday’s Capitol North volleyball match.

“I give Lake Mills a lot of credit tonight because they were well-prepared,” Luther Prep coach Erin Nottling said. “They shut down our offense and also played amazing defense.”

Grace Schopf led the L-Cats with 10 kills to go with 13 digs while Olivia Dunkleberger added eight kills and Megan McAdow had seven. Calla Borchert put up 3.5 blocks while Tatum Riggelman had 19 digs for the L-Cats.

Megan Riley had 10 kills and 16 digs for the Phoenix while Carly Hirsch added 10 kills and 2.5 blocks. Andrea Bortulin handed out 16 assists and Grace Kieselhorst supplied 15 while Ally Goba led with 24 digs.

“We have been working on managing our own errors the last few matches and tonight was the same story,” Nottling said. “We have moments of great play and then let the game get away from us.”

Luther Prep (11-8, 4-2 North) heads to Wisconsin Lutheran College for the Lutheran Invitational Tournament Saturday. Lake Mills heads to Madison Edgewood Monday.
