CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) _ Vicki Plowden scored 20 points and grabbed a season-high 13 rebounds to lead No. 14 Miami to a 74-52 Big East Conference victory Tuesday over Syracuse.

It was to the 15th straight win for the Hurricanes (15-1, 7-0), while Syracuse fell to 7-9 overall and 3-4 in the conference.

Miami jumped out to a 14-0 lead, with Plowden and Frances Savage scoring six points each. But the Orangewomen fought back, with a 14-0 run of their own to tie the score with 8:43 remaining in the first half.

The Hurricanes then turned to their defense and forced six turnovers in the final five minutes while scoring 21 points to lead 35-25 at the half.

Miami’s defense continued to dominate throughout the second half, with the Orangewomen shooting only 26.5 percent from the field and 30.2 percent for the game. Miami also forced 22 turnovers.

Savage hyperextended her knee early in the second half and saw limited playing time. But she still managed to score 12 points and grab seven rebounds. Ronnie McGarry added 12 points.

Syracuse was led by Erin Kenneally and Angel Lewis, who scored 18 and 16 points, respectively.
