Suspect in custody in fatal Massachusetts shooting
PITTSFIELD, Mass. (AP) — Massachusetts prosecutors are seeking the return of a teen suspected in a fatal shooting in Pittsfield.
Berkshire District Attorney David Capeless says 18-year-old Thomas Lee Newman was captured Sunday by a law enforcement task force in Utica, New York. A warrant had been issued for his arrest in connection with the shooting Friday that left another 18-year-old man dead and a 17-year-old wounded.
Newman was being held without bail pending his arraignment Monday on a fugitive charge in Utica. Massachusetts authorities are seeking to have him returned to Pittsfield to face charges of murder and armed assault with intent to murder.
Keenan Pellot was killed by the gunfire on Tyler Street. The 17-year-old remains hospitalized in guarded condition at Berkshire Medical Center.
The shooting remains under investigation.
