Nashoba Steps Up Against Bromfield
The Nashoba Regional boys’ soccer team handed Bromfield its first loss of the season, claiming a 3-1 victory on the road on Monday.
Nate Buchholz, Jonathan Hernat and Mitchell Scanlon each found the back of the net to power the Chieftains (2-7), who never trailed.
The Trojans fall to 9-1.
St. Bernard’s (5-4) split a pair of matches at Oak Hill Country Club, beating Fitchburg (1-11-1), 180-198, and falling to Lunenburg (9-5-1), 166-180.
Lunenburg’s Emily Nash was the medalist, carding a 2-over 37 as the Blue Knights clinched a postseason spot.
College field hockey
* Fitchburg State’s Chloe Gladu was named Little East Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.
Gladu led a stout defense for the Falcons during a 3-0 record week, with Fitchburg State allowing just a pair of goals in that span.
* West Townsend’s Hannah Wilmot, a former St. Bernard’s standout, made her collegiate debut in goal for the Saint Michael’s field hockey last week in a 2-1 shootout loss to Assumption on Saturday.
Wilmot made 8 saves in 53:31 of relief for Saint Michael’s (1-7) in the contest.
