Missoula moves on moving RVs out of street

November 30, 2017

MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) — The Missoula City Council moved forward with a law restricting people’s ability to live in an RV within city limits.

The Missoulian reports the updated law applies just to recreational vehicles, and removes all references to people living in cars.

Development Services Director Mike Haynes says the RVs pose a public health risk and are a safety hazard since they don’t hook up to water, electricity or sewage.

Haynes says the updated ordinance is meant to address “less than a handful of cases” where people don’t comply with police and the health department.

The public hearing on the ordinance will be on Dec. 18 during the council’s Monday night meeting.
