NORFOLK, Va. (AP) _ A sailor whose baby died after she allegedly left him alone in a hot car for several hours was charged Wednesday with involuntary manslaughter.

Seaman Lateasha Moore found her 11-month-old son, Mikius Moore, unresponsive July 27 after she finished her duty shift at Little Creek Naval Amphibious Base. The child was pronounced dead at a hospital.

No court dates have been set. If found guilty, Moore faces up to 28 years confinement, fines and a dishonorable discharge.

Moore, 20, was back at work and was not taken into custody. Navy spokesman Ron Hill said she wasn't considered a flight risk.

She could not be reached for comment Wednesday. No one answered a call to a home telephone number listed in her name. A request was made to the Navy to contact her at work.

Moore has been assigned to Amphibious Construction Battalion Two since February. Before that, she was stationed aboard the USS Essex in Japan.
