Blanchie Mae Glenn-Hairston, 73, of Kankakee, passed away Wednesday (Nov. 7, 2018) at Presence St. Mary’s Hospital in Kankakee.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, until the 11 a.m. funeral service at the Second Baptist Church in Kankakee. Pastor Tyler J. Prude will officiate. Interment will be in Mound Grove Gardens of Memory, Kankakee.
Blanchie was born March 3, 1945, in Marianna, Ark., the daughter of John Henry Glenn and Drucilla Bracy-Glenn. In 1964, she relocated along with her two young daughters from Arkansas to Kankakee, where she worked at Domestic Laundry until she retired. At that time she also became a member of Second Baptist Church. She was married to Albert Hairston in Kankakee.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her sisters, as they were very close. Blanchie also loved sports, particularly basketball and had an amazing sense of humor.
Preceding her in death were her parents, John Henry and Drucilla; two brothers, Joe and James Glenn; two sisters, Leona Green and Gloria Calmes; one brother-in-law, Martin Luther Willingham; and her eldest daughter, Bobbie Glenn-Price.
Those surviving to cherish her memories are her husband, Albert Hairston, of Kankakee; daughter, Loretta Glenn, of Kankakee; two sisters, Bessie Willingham, of St. Louis, Mo., and Julia Billips, of Kankakee; son-in-law, Bryant Price, of Kankakee; brother-in-law, John Calmes, of Kankakee; six grandchildren, Rickeshia Glenn, Shonda Robinson and Latoya Woods, all of Atlanta, Ga., April Turner and Willie McComb, both of Kankakee, and Ieshua Glenn, of Jackson, Tenn.; 19 great-grandchildren; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Blanchie was a loving mother, wife, sister, grandmother and friend.
