POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (AP) _ The Purple Eagles of Niagara glided over the Hampton Pirates 64-62 Saturday in the consolation game of the Pepsi Marist Classic.

Hampton guard JaFonde Williams missed two free-throws in the closing seconds to secure Niagara's win.

Niagara guard Brent Beamer led the Purple Eagles with 18 points and six rebounds. Forward Jermaine Young pulled down 14 rebounds and notched 7 points to lead Niagara's inside game.

For the Pirates, guard Al Bell scored 18 points, Williams tallied 13 points and Torrey Farrington put in 12 points.

The score was tied for much of the second half. With less than three minutes remaining the game was at a 60-60 deadlock.

Niagara guard Ronnel Felton's two free throws at 2:29 put the Eagles ahead for good.
