Gunman at large following deadly shooting in Sandpoint, Idaho motel

Sandpoint police officers are searching for a man suspected of shooting and killing a person in a downtown Sandpoint motel Monday evening.

The person is described as a darker-skinned male between 20 to 40 years old, about 5 feet 6 inches to 6 feet tall, with short hair. He could be wearing a light blue-colored T-shirt and tan-colored shorts.

Police said he fled on foot after shooting a man at about 7 p.m. at the Meandering Moose Motel, 317 Marion St. The victim, who was transported to Bonner General Hospital, died of his or her injuries after being shot in the chest, police said in a news release.

Calls to police seeking further detail were not returned.
