SOUTH POINT, Ohio - Incoming sixth-graders at South Point Middle School were trained hands-on in the nuances of transitioning from elementary to middle school Friday as the school hosted its inaugural Sixth Grade Back-to-School Camp in South Point, Ohio.

Students spent the morning and afternoon at their new school exploring their surroundings, making new friends and transitioning to a more complicated school day without the first day of school rush.

Time was spent finding their lockers and practicing those at-first confusing combination locks, learning about all the new teachers they’ll have and finding their way around the comparatively bigger building. Students also took part in sessions incorporating STEM activities and team-building activities like navigating an escape room and other cooperative games.

Students in South Point return to school Thursday, Aug. 16.
