BERLIN, Wis. (AP) _ A tornado damaged an apartment building and tossed around cars in its parking lot Monday evening, a witness said. One person was treated for minor injuries.
A resident, Robert Radliff, said the tornado tore the roof from an apartment building about a block from his home and destroyed a garage nearby.
He said one car in the apartment parking lot was overturned, others were moved and ″one had a 2-by-6 right through the windshield.″
″I actually saw a bunch of debris flying by, branches and stuff, 30 to 40 yards up in the air,″ he said.
Liz Arveson, director of community resources at Berlin Memorial Hospital, said one man was treated and released for a storm-related injury. She said some residents were sent to shelters, in most cases because roads to their homes were blocked off.
Berlin, a city of 5,400 people 80 miles northwest of Milwaukee, is about 20 miles east of Wautoma, where a tornado killed two people and caused an estimated $10 million damage last month.
