Man struck, killed by train in northern New Jersey
PARK RIDGE, N.J. (AP) — A man has been struck and killed by a New Jersey Transit train in northern Jersey.
The man was struck around 7:25 a.m. Monday by a Pascack Valley line train just west of the Park Ridge station. His name has not been released, and it wasn’t immediately clear why he was on the tracks.
There were 180 people aboard the train, which had departed from Spring Valley, New York and was headed to Secaucus. The accident caused a temporary service suspension in both directions, and rail tickets were being cross-honored on NJ Transit buses and private carriers.
No one aboard the train was injured.
