Nebraska utility crews in Florida helping to restore power after Hurricane Michael
In the wake of Hurricane Michael’s destruction in Florida, some Nebraska utility crews have traveled to the state to help get the lights back on.
Fourteen employees from Lincoln Electric System went to Florida along with a six-man crew from Grand Island Utilities, according to a press release from LES.
The crews are working to restore power to areas hit by the powerful storm. The effort is coordinated by the American Public Power Association, a mutual aid network that deploys crews to assist utilities in times of emergency.
Last year, Lincoln workers also went to Florida in the wake of Hurricane Irma, working in the cities of Ocala and Tallahassee.
