Man arrested after fire pit reported

October 5, 2018

After police and firefighters responded to a report of fire and smoke Wednesday night, a Norfolk man was placed under arrest.

Capt. Mike Bauer with the Norfolk Police Division said first responders arrived at 1225 W. Pasewalk Ave. at 10:20 p.m. to find a patio fire pit burning.

While on scene, officers had contact with Charles E. Perman, 50. A check of his record showed that he had two Madison County arrest warrants.

Officers took Perman into custody on the warrants, Bauer said.

In a subsequent search, officers recovered from Perman a small baggie that contained methamphetamine.

Perman was then arrested for possession of methamphetamine. He was housed in the Norfolk City Jail and later transferred to the Madison County Jail.
