Man accused of campground sexual assault in 2009
HANCOCK, N.H. (AP) — A man listed as a registered sex offender in Massachusetts has been accused of sexually assaulting an 8-year-old child at a New Hampshire campground nearly a decade ago.
Police in Hancock say 65-year-old Dale Earl Cole, of Ayer, Massachusetts, faces three counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault.
Police Chief Andrew Wood tells WMUR-TV Cole groomed the child with pornographic movies and offered to provide cigarettes in exchange for sexual acts in 2009. Police don’t believe it’s an isolated event.
Cole was arraigned and jailed in New Hampshire on Wednesday. It wasn’t known if he had a lawyer; a message was left at a phone number.
Massachusetts records show Cole was convicted of indecent assault and battery on a child in 1984 and for child pornography possession in 2010.
