New playground equipment
Editor, Daily Times:
Each day, I am reminded of what a supportive community Watertown is for our children. From community sponsors for school fundraising and attendance efforts, to anonymous contributions of food and clothing made to the Douglas Tiger Den, to the amazing show of generosity through the Gifts for Watertown Kids toy distribution this past weekend -- thank you.
Recently, at Douglas Elementary School, our Parent-Teacher Organization and students were able to welcome innovative, accessible playground equipment to our lower playground. This past May, our PTO held the second annual Douglas Dash, with the goal of raising funds for new playground equipment that would be accessible for all students on our lower playground. The Douglas PTO reached out to our community for support in our fundraising efforts, and thanks to the support of our families and these community sponsors, dreams became a reality this fall.
The students, staff and PTO of Douglas Elementary School would like to thank the following community sponsors who contributed monetarily or through in-kind contributions to the Douglas Dash Playground Campaign and brought our playground to life: Koplin Excavating; Carew Heating & Air, Inc.; Dr. Paul Sommers; Evald Moulding; Family Wealth Advisors; Grindwald Ford; Sommers Outdoor Equipment; Tyjeski Family Chiropractic; Peter and Mary Davy; BBS & Associates, accountant; Charles David & Sons; city of Watertown, Aquatic Center; Pauli Plumbing, Inc.; Watertown Bowl; Williams, Hoppenrath and Associates; Wis-Pak of Watertown; Kwik Trip of Watertown.
As you drive past the lower playground at Douglas Elementary School, please take a moment to listen to the laughter of our students, get a glimpse of a high five between classmates, and watch our students building strong and healthy bodies on our new equipment. On behalf of the Douglas PTO, staff and students -- thank-you Watertown, for your ongoing support.
