LEGISLATIVE PAY

HELENA —The Montana Legislature should “take its lumps” and pass a long-overdue measure to raise future lawmakers’ pay without worrying about the potential fallout from constituents who may see the measure as self-serving, the Senate president said. Scott Sales, the GOP Senate president from Bozeman, volunteered to sponsor the legislation in the session that begins in January after hesitation by other members of the Legislative Council during a meeting last week. BILLINGS CLINIC-BOZEMAN —Billings Clinic officials have announced plans to build a physician group practice, urgent care and outpatient surgical center in Bozeman.

PREGNANT WOMEN-ADDICTION TREATMENT — State health officials say more than $5 million will be put into a five-year project to help pregnant women who are experiencing mental health challenges and substance use disorders.

UNIVERSITY SYSTEM-RAISES — The state Board of Regents approved a 2 percent pay raise for 13 top administrators within the Montana university system.

RESERVATION-KIDNAPPING — The U.S. Supreme Court has rejected the petition of a Montana man to review his conviction for the kidnap and rape of a 4-year-old girl on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation.

WHITE SUPREMACY SIGNS-MONTANA —

GILLETTE BOY SHOT — Police say a 13-year-old Wyoming boy is recovering in a hospital after he was shot by his 24-year-old brother inside a house in Gillette.

ROCKY MOUNTAIN VIBES — The minor league baseball team that moved from Helena, Montana to Colorado Springs has a new name — the Rocky Mountain Vibes.
