Tienas Vande Slunt, 79, formerly of Kiel

Tienas “Dutch” Vande Slunt, 79, formerly of Kiel, passed away peacefully Dec. 30, 2018, with his family by his side.

He was born July 15, 1939, to the late Tienas and Henrietta (Vandeboven Kamp) Vande Slunt in Waupun. He served with the U.S. Army. Dutch was a dedicated employee of Tecumseh Products from 1959 until his retirement. On March 1, 1971, he married Pat Herrin. They resided in Kiel until they followed Tecumseh Products to Douglas, Georgia, and recently returned to Wisconsin.

Dutch, as he was known by family and friends, took great pride in his yard, was an adoring pet owner and a lifelong Green Bay Packers fan and also enjoyed golfing.

He is survived by his wife, Pat; three sons, Tienas Charles of Texas, James Herrin (Jane) of Racine, Mark Herrin (Yvonne) of Chilton; a daughter, Cheryl Kaiser of Plymouth; grandchildren, Aaron, James Jr., Mitchell, Brian (Ashley), Robert, Brandon, Mallory (Chuck), Mac and Angela; eight great-grandchildren; his siblings, Rose (Charles) Schouten, Hilda Norton and Donna (Donald) Bartelt. Dutch is further survived by brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Evelyn; a brother, Paul; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 5, at Meiselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home, 815 6th St., Kiel, with Dutch’s grandson Brandon Herrin officiating. Veterans honors will be conducted at the funeral home following services. Family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home on Saturday from noon until the time of service at 2 p.m. Burial will take place at the Kiel City Cemetery at a later date.
