HOUSTON (AP) _ Craig Biggio, returning from a serious knee injury, was 4-for-5 with two doubles and an RBI in the Houston Astros' 8-5 exhibition victory over Boston on Friday night.

Biggio almost had a third double in his last at-bat, but was thrown out at second base trying to extend his single.

Boston's Carl Everett, suspended for Thursday's game and fined $97,222 for missing a team bus and skipping a workout, went 1-for-4. He had an RBI double in the third inning.

Houston starter Tony McKnight (1-0) pitched five innings, allowed eight hits, four earned runs, struck out five and didn't allow a walk for the victory. Billy Wagner, returning from an elbow injury, got his third save.

Boston starter Hideo Nomo (0-3) pitched four innings and allowed eight hits and three earned runs. He struck out four and walked four, including two to start the fifth inning before he was relieved by Rolando Arroyo with the Red Sox ahead 4-3.

Arroyo got his first batter, Chris Truby, on a fly out, but a grounder by Tony Eusebio, sacrifice fly by Glen Barker and single by pinch-hitter Orlando Merced produced three runs and a 6-4 Houston lead.
