Regatta agreement before supervisors Monday

KINGMAN —Mohave County supervisors on Monday will discuss an agreement for a company to manage the August 2019 River Regatta.

Edgewater Gaming LLC is seeking to rent Davis Camp South Beach to operate the Aug. 7-11, 2019 River Regatta. Projected revenue for the 2019 event is about $81,280. Attendance at the August 2018 River Regatta was about 10,000 people,

In other action, the board will look at extending a lease with Wakimoto Farms to farm 15 acres of county-owned land, which is within the Mohave Valley Irrigation and Drainage District. If approved, the lease would expire Jan. 31, 2020.

Also before the supervisors is whether to seek legal opinion on a farm consortium lease with Wakimoto Farms and to direct staff to compile a complete history of the lease with Wakimoto Farms,

The board also will discuss no longer supporting AFLAC for life insurance, workman’s compensation, cancer coverage and other supplemental insurance. There are about 49 county employees who are enrolled in AFLAC.

The supervisors also will look to continue to allow District 1 Sup. Gary Watson to represent Mohave County on groundwater and Colorado River water issues.

The board also will discuss adding an employee to the clerk of the board’s office to post agendas and minutes of all county boards and commissions and ensure an attorney is sitting on all county boards and commissions.

The board also will be asked to appoint Charles Brinkley of Golden Shores to the public lands and recreation commission until Jan. 7, 2020.

The supervisors also will look at a permit for a 6.4-acre parcel north of Boundary Cone Road and east of Chauncey Boulevard to expand a manufactured home and recreational vehicle park in Fort Mohave.

The board also will discuss a rezone of a 1.06-acre lot south of Corona Road and east of Huntington Road from general commercial to commercial manufacturing, open lot storage to allow for a warehouse in Fort Mohave.

The board of supervisors will meet at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the county administration building, 700 W. Beale St. in Kingman.
