Man sentenced in fatal shooting after bar dispute
BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) — A Vermont man convicted of shooting and killing another man following a bar dispute in Burlington in 2015 has been sentenced to 20 years to life in prison.
Chavis Murphy was convicted of second-degree murder in the shooting of 28-year-old Obafemi Adedapo, of New York. He had pleaded not guilty.
His lawyer told WCAX-TV on Monday that he didn’t think there was enough evidence and said he’s disappointed with the outcome.
The county prosecutor says from the beginning, his office found that the case was a strong one and the sentence is fair.
Murphy plans to appeal the decision.
