Chamber Main Street sets 2019 event lineup
DIXON – The Dixon Chamber of Commerce and Main Street is gearing up for a new year of events with a few changes to the lineup.
The lineup includes annual staples like the Dixon Founders Day celebration and historical program on April 11, Brush and Bloom July 4 during the Petunia Festival, and the Christmas Walk on Dec. 6.
Recurring activities including riverfront yoga, musical Fridays and the Dixon City Market will return in May and run through August.
One event that didn’t make the list this year because of low turnout is the West End Fest, which started in 2015 as a downtown music festival featuring local acts. West End Fest is usually in October and had to be moved indoors in the past because of poor weather.
The Scarecrow Festival will take place on Oct. 26 and be paired with Treat Street downtown as well as the Lions Halloween Parade.
Chamber Main Street is also rebranding Venetian Night as Masquerade Mystery on the Riverfront Aug. 10 with similar offerings but no boat parade.
Blues, Brews BBQ and the Bags for the Brave fundraiser for Lee County Honor Flight will be combined again this year on Sept. 21, and Ultimate Tailgate with its chili cook-off will be in October with the date to be announced later in the year.
The Cabela’s King Kat Catfish Tournament is scheduled for June 1, and Shop Small Saturday will be on Nov. 30.
