Winter storm takes aim at Wyoming

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — A major winter storm spread snow and bitter cold over much of Wyoming.

The National Weather Service posted winter storm warnings for much of the state, including Casper, Gillette, Sheridan, Jackson, Yellowstone National Park, Evanston, Rawlins and Laramie.

Up to 12 inches (30 centimeters) of snow fell by Sunday afternoon in some areas of northwest Wyoming in Teton, Fremont, Lincoln and Park counties.

A winter weather advisory was in effect for central Wyoming, including Riverton, Lander, Worland and Cody.

The snow was expected to continue through Monday east of the divide.

Bitter cold temperatures were expected Monday and Tuesday with highs in mostly from 5 to 15 degrees (minus 15 to minus 9 Celsius) and lows Monday night and Tuesday night mostly below zero (minus 17 Celsius).
