Woman sentenced for fatal crash while on anxiety, pain meds

May 29, 2019

WOBURN, Mass. (AP) — A Massachusetts woman has been sentenced to up to five years in prison for causing a fatal crash while driving under the influence of drugs.

Lynn DeWolfe, of Tyngsborough, pleaded guilty Tuesday to motor vehicle homicide, drugged driving and other charges in the death of 42-year-old Christopher Weisz, of Bedford.

DeWolfe’s license will be revoked for 15 years.

Prosecutors say 52-year-old DeWolfe was taking anxiety and pain medications on Aug. 24, 2017 when other motorists called state police about her erratic driving. One trooper allowed DeWolfe to continue driving after she was involved in a crash.

Prosecutors say DeWolfe later struck a car on Interstate 95 in Reading that collided with Weisz’s motorcycle.

DeWolfe’s lawyer said his client had undergone substance abuse treatment and he recommended a one-year sentence.
