Duke’s Tre Jones hints at year 2 in Instagram post

Will Duke freshman guard Tre Jones return for a sophomore year? Maybe, according to a Saturday night Instagram post.

On Saturday night, Jones, one of Duke’s freshman stars, posted a photo of him on Instagram hinting at a possible return to Durham.

Jones has not yet declared for the NBA draft, and according to a source close to the team, he is not the type of person to post a photo like that on social media and then declare.

In a second cryptic Instagram post on Sunday evening, Jones posted a photo of him in front of his Duke basketball jersey.

Jones, along with his freshman teammates, Zion Williamson, RJ Barrett and Cam Reddish, were all expected to play at Duke for just one year, so a second year for Jones would be big for the team.

Williamson, Barrett and Reddish have not yet declared for the draft yet either, but most expect they will do so.

Jones, who is from Apple Valley, Minn., averaged 9.4 points, 5.3 assists, 3.8 rebounds and 1.9 steals this past season for Duke as he started in all 36 games. He helped the Blue Devils to an Elite Eight appearance and an ACC Tournament championship.

Duke is bringing in another talented recruiting class next year as well. Wendell Moore, a 5-star small forward from Concord, and Boogie Ellis, a 4-star guard from San Diego, have signed letters of intent with the Blue Devils. Vernon Carey, a 5-star center from Fort Lauderdale, has also committed to Duke.
