HOLLY, Mich. — Cremated remains of about 20 military veterans found in a Detroit funeral home are buried at a national cemetery in Oakland County. The remains were among about 100 discovered inside the Cantrell Funeral Home in Detroit, which was shut down after inspectors found improperly stored bodies and other violations. Developing. — AMMONIA LEAK: Authorities say they suspect that someone tampering with tank containing ammonia that’s used in farming caused a leak in rural Michigan that prompted some evacuations.
— LEM BARNEY-LAWSUIT: Former Detroit Lions Hall of Famer Lem Barney and his wife are suing a Detroit-area pizza chain for racial discrimination after being refused service.
— PRIESTS-ABUSE-MICHIGAN: The Archdiocese of Detroit says an allegation that a priest who died in 1994 sexually abused a child at some point has been found to be credible.
— NEW MORGUE: Plans are moving forward to open a new morgue in southern Michigan in early 2019. Jackson County plans to redesign a facility that was formerly used as a garage to maintain sheriff’s department vehicles as a site for autopsies.
— GAS PRICES-MICHIGAN: AAA Michigan says average gas prices statewide are down 10 cents in the past week to about $2.61 per gallon amid continued lower oil prices.
— UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE-OFFICE HOURS: The state’s Unemployment Insurance offices are adjusting their hours as part of an effort to better serve the public.
— TREE FORT FIRE-TEENS BURNED: Two western Michigan teens have suffered second- and third-degree burns after a tree fort they were sleeping in caught fire.
