University of Illinois resumes normal operations
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) — The University of Illinois’ Urbana-Champaign campus will be up and fully running again on Tuesday.
Chancellor Phyllis Wise says in a statement that normal operations will resume at 11 p.m. on Monday. The state of Illinois spent Sunday and Monday digging out from a major winter storm and dealing with sub-zero temperatures.
Wise says employees are “expected to make every reasonable effort to report for work.” She says campus operations had been limited because “blowing wind and frigid temperatures made it unsafe.”
University officials say workers are clearing streets, parking lots and sidewalks across campus. Wise says most of the work will be done by the start of the work day on Tuesday.
