Commuters facing a slippery ride home across New Jersey

January 8, 2018

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — Commuters are facing a slippery ride home as mix of freezing rain, sleet and snow sweeps across New Jersey.

Forecasters say a light glaze of ice will likely coat some roadways. But little or no snow and sleet accumulation is expected in most areas.

The potentially dangerous travel conditions caused the early closure of state offices on Monday afternoon, although essential personnel remained on duty. A winter weather advisory was in place for central and southern areas.

Meanwhile, the Atlantic City school district remained closed while the region digs out from last week’s snowstorm.

Seastreak says the worst ice condition in its history forced it to cancel service and was preventing NY Waterway from operating boats to and from its Belford location in Middletown.
