FLORENCE, S.C. – Meeting new people and establishing contacts are a lot of what salesmanship is all about. And according to two exhibitors at the S.C. AgriBiz & Farm Expo, the company you keep says a lot about your company.

The Leaf Filter booth was showing attendees Thursday just how simple it is to keep tree trash from clogging gutters and downspouts. But there was much more to it than that.

Matthew Nash, an event marketing manager, said he was pleased with the response from the show.

“I do over 200 shows a year from Myrtle Beach to Savannah,” he said. “This is a great show because of the people here. They are so generous here. You’re in the South. It’s nothing but respect.”

Jessica Backus of Conway has a sales background and says the show is a great place.

“This is my first week with this company, but I was working shows in Texas, where this company found me,” she said. “This product pretty much sells itself.”

Backus liked the overall atmosphere.

“There is a national chain food store over there talking about how they buy local produce,” she said. “I think that’s awesome.”

Backus said she enjoys this line of work.

“I like meeting new people and learning their situations,” she said. “If I can make someone’s day, that’s awesome.”
