Mark your calendar! Fall Home and Garden Show set for Sept. 21-22 in Aiken

September 9, 2018

Fall is a great time to spruce up and tackle chores around the house – raking leaves, cleaning out flower beds, cleaning gutters and putting on a fresh coat of paint – before the holidays arrive.

And the Aiken Standard can help make all those home and garden improvements a little easier.

The Aiken Standard’s seventh-annual Fall Home and Garden Show will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 21 and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 22 in the H. Odell Weeks Activities Center at 1700 Whiskey Road. Admission will be a $1 donation to benefit Aiken County Habitat for Humanity.

The show will feature 80 businesses focused on home and garden services, said Diane Daniell, the sales and special projects manager for the Aiken Standard.

“This is our largest show to date,” Daniell said. “We will have a wide range of experts, from home and garden centers to insulation contractors and landscapers. We will have it all.”

This year’s DIY sponsor is DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen, which will do presentations at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Sept. 21 and at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Sept. 22. The topics will be “10 Mistakes to Avoid When Choosing Your Remodeling Contractor” and “Kitchen Design Elements to Think About Before You Get Started.”

Demonstration topics will be “How to Remove Scratches Out of Stainless Steel Appliances” and “Caulking Tips to Make Your Mama Proud.”

Seating is limited. For reservations, call 803-644-2369.

The event also will feature “lots of door prizes,” Daniell said.

The grand prize will be $2,500 worth of windows from presenting sponsor Bates and Sons Vinyl Siding Co. The drawing will be at 2:45 p.m. Sept. 22.
