Officials: Vandalism leads to Cary sewer overflow
Stones and wood dropped into a manhole led to an estimated 1,350 gallons of wastewater overflowing Wednesday morning near the 500 block of Fumagalli Drive, officials in Cary said.
The spill happened at about 10:30 a.m., sending waste into an unnamed tributary of Panther Creek.
No fish kill was observed.
Crews cleared the blockage by 11:15 a.m., but cleanup will continue through Thursday.
