Drug Charges Dropped Against Grambling Guard
GRAMBLING, La. (AP) _ Prosecutors dropped drug charges against Grambling guard Denise Goins and she will play for the Tigers in the Southwestern Athletic Conference tournament, the school announced Monday night.
Shreveport police arrested Goins Feb. 21 on charges of possessing cocaine with intent to distribute the drug and Grambling suspended her on March 1.
The Caddo Parish District Attorney’s Office dropped the charges, athletic director Fred Hobdy said in a faxed news release.
Goins averaged 13.8 points per game this season.
Grambling, the regular-season conference champion, plays its first tournament game Friday against the winner of the Southern-Mississippi Valley State game. The tournament is in Montgomery, Ala.
