Pittsfield man sentenced for unprovoked attack
PITTSFIELD, Mass. (AP) — A Pittsfield man has been sentenced to 2 ½ years in jail for what prosecutors called an unprovoked baseball bat and knife attack on a woman he didn’t know.
The alcohol-fueled attack in the early morning hours of Aug. 22 left the victim unconscious and requiring treatment for a fractured skull and slashed ear. The prosecutor told the court the single mother of two was still in physical therapy for her injuries and suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder stemming from the attack.
The Berkshire Eagle (http://bit.ly/1i1FTrh) reports that 19-year-old Alex Leclair was sentenced Thursday after pleading guilty to charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
Leclair’s attorney says her client has a longstanding alcohol addiction he has never dealt with.
