Spokane County prosecutor finds deadly force was reasonable

January 3, 2019

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. (AP) — The Spokane County prosecutor’s office says seven sheriff’s deputies involved in the fatal shooting of a man in Spokane Valley last summer were justified in their use of lethal force.

Last August, deputies responded to a driver who had pulled into a gas station and was pointing a pistol that at one point he fired into his vehicle.

The prosecutor’s office says 42-year-old Brian Bayne eventually pointed his pistol at deputies and several officers opened fire.

Deputies and paramedics then approached the truck and determined that Bayne was deceased.

The prosecutor’s office says the use of deadly force was reasonable and no charges will be filed.
