CHARTER BUS CRASH-ARKANSAS
MEMPHIS, Tenn._ It was a fun and competitive weekend for a young group of all-stars as they visited Texas and represented Memphis, Tennessee, in a weekend football tournament in the Dallas area. The players, some venturing outside Memphis for the first time, built bonds on the field and off, says one of their coaches, Matt King. But the glow of a successful tournament turned to tragedy when the charter bus carrying players and coaches rolled off an interstate and overturned in Arkansas early Authorities are investigating what caused the crash, which occurred in clear, dry weather _ leaving one child dead and 45 other people hurt. By Adrian Sainz. SENT: 620 words, with photo.
ST. LOUIS _ After a decade in dock, the historic 1920s-era Delta Queen riverboat will cruise again. President Donald Trump signed legislation Tuesday authorizing the 285-foot-long riverboat immortalized in poems and songs to cruise again along the Mississippi and several other rivers. The Delta Queen was sidelined in 2008 by a federal law prohibiting overnight excursions on wooden vessels. Both U.S. senators from Missouri co-sponsored a bill to allow the exemption, which requires modifications to wooden portions of the vessel. The hull is already steel. The company in 2020 expects to begin cruises on the Mississippi, Ohio, Tennessee, Cumberland, Kanawha, Arkansas and Illinois rivers in 2020. By Jim Salter. SENT: 330 words, with photo.
